Slovenia the untouched beauty

We depart Lake Bohinj after breakfast and drive approximately 1-1/2 hours through the most picturesque and stunning scenery. The road winds through the mountains as we pass rich farmland, quaint stone and timber homes which all have neatly groomed gardens, flower beds and vegetable plots. We begin our walk today through alpine forests, our path passes remote farms and small villages before following a narrow gorge to emerge at the fascinating Partisan Hospital. The hospital, hidden in a canyon, treated wounded Partisan soldiers from Yugoslavia and other countries from late 1943 until the end of World War II.  The Franja Partisan Hospital is a cultural monument of national importance. Our visit today was very moving and memorable experience enjoyed be everyone. Continuing our walk passing through local gardens, following a very fast stream we arrived at a small village, and our restaurant for lunch.  The family who owned the restaurant made us feel extremely welcome. We sat down to the most incredible meal of 3 different varieties of soups, local consisting of potato, kale, cabbage and garlic, the next of local mushrooms, the 3rd beef and noodle. Main course  was pork cooked on a spit roast accompanied by local potatoes, vegetable roulette, salad. Yummy dessert
was a massive slice of the best tirramasu I have ever eaten. Of course this was all washed down with local red wine, or homemade apple juice. Now we have to walk another 10klms to work off some of the food to make way for dinner.  An absolutely fabulous day.  I hope that the ladies on the Camino are having just as good a time.
